Philodendron ‘Ring of Fire’ is a highly sought-after collector plant known for its dramatic, serrated foliage and incredible colour changes. New leaves can emerge in shades of red, orange, yellow, and cream, gradually maturing to deeper green with striking variegation. Each leaf develops its own unique pattern, making every plant one of a kind.
🌱 Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Strong filtered light helps maintain vibrant colour and variegation. Avoid intense direct afternoon sun.
💧 Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering thoroughly. Always provide good drainage and avoid constantly wet soil.
💦 Humidity: Prefers 60%+ humidity, though established plants can adapt to average household conditions.
🌡️ Temperature: Keep warm, ideally 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
🪴 Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir or peat.
🌿 Growth: A relatively slow-growing Philodendron that develops increasingly dramatic, deeply serrated leaves as it matures.
✨ Variegation: Variegation can range from creamy white and yellow to green marbling. New growth often displays the most vibrant colours before gradually changing as the leaf matures.
🐾 Pet Safety: Toxic if chewed or ingested by cats and dogs due to insoluble calcium oxalates.
⭐ Care Tip: Give your Ring of Fire bright filtered light and patience. Avoid overwatering, and rotate the pot occasionally to encourage balanced growth and an attractive overall shape.
