Philodendron ‘Malay Gold’ is a bright and eye-catching tropical foliage plant known for its glossy, elongated leaves that emerge in vibrant golden-yellow and lime-green shades before maturing to deeper green. Its colourful new growth brings a beautiful tropical feel to any indoor plant collection.
🌱 Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Good light helps maintain the vibrant golden tones. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
💧 Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feels dry. Keep the mix lightly moist but never soggy.
💦 Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally 50–70%+.
🌡️ Temperature: Enjoys warm conditions around 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
🪴 Soil: Use a chunky, airy aroid mix with excellent drainage. Orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir or peat make a great combination.
🌿 Growth: A vigorous, upright-growing Philodendron that produces fresh, colourful foliage throughout the growing season. Regularly remove older damaged leaves to keep the plant looking its best.
✨ New Growth: One of its most attractive features is the golden-yellow new foliage, which gradually changes colour as the leaves mature.
🐾 Pet Safety: Toxic if chewed or ingested by cats and dogs due to insoluble calcium oxalates.
⭐ Care Tip: Bright filtered light will help keep the foliage colourful and encourage healthy new growth. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root problems.
