Monstera Deliciosa is a classic tropical houseplant loved for its large, glossy green leaves and dramatic natural splits and holes, known as fenestrations. As the plant matures, the leaves become larger and develop more intricate splits, creating a bold jungle-inspired look.
š± Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate moderate light, but growth may be slower and leaves may develop fewer fenestrations.
š§ Water: Water when the top 2ā3 inches of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away.
š¦ Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity, ideally 50ā70%+, especially when actively growing.
š”ļø Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures around 18ā29°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
šŖ“ Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir or peat.
šæ Growth: A vigorous climbing plant that can become quite large indoors. Providing a moss pole, trellis, or other support encourages larger, more mature foliage.
š Fenestrations: Young plants typically produce solid leaves. As the Monstera matures and receives adequate light and support, its leaves develop the characteristic splits and holes.
š¾ Pet Safety: Toxic if chewed or ingested by cats and dogs due to insoluble calcium oxalates.
ā Care Tip: For bigger leaves and more dramatic splits, give your Monstera bright filtered light, consistent care, and something sturdy to climb. Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and keep them looking glossy.
