Lucky Bamboo Pagoda is actually a Dracaena, not a true bamboo. Its upright, stacked or tiered canes create the distinctive “pagoda” appearance, making it a popular decorative houseplant and a traditional symbol of good fortune.
🌿 Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate lower light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Can be grown in water or soil. For water-grown plants, keep the roots submerged and change the water about weekly. Filtered or distilled water is preferable, especially where tap water contains chlorine or fluoride.
- Soil: If planted in soil, use a well-draining houseplant mix and keep it lightly moist rather than soggy.
- Temperature: Keep warm and protect from cold drafts.
- Humidity: Average household humidity is generally sufficient, though moderate humidity helps keep foliage looking its best.
- Fertilizer: Feed very lightly. For water-grown plants, a highly diluted houseplant fertilizer every couple of months is generally sufficient.
- Propagation: Easily propagated from stem cuttings. New roots can develop from the nodes when cuttings are placed in water.
- Pets: Lucky Bamboo is a Dracaena and is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
🍀 Fun Fact
