Homalomena ‘Camouflage’ is a beautiful tropical aroid prized for its striking, patterned foliage. Its leaves feature shades of green with mottled, camouflage-like markings, giving each plant a unique appearance. It has a compact, bushy growth habit and makes an excellent statement houseplant.
☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but stronger indirect light helps maintain attractive foliage.
💧 Water: Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, but never soggy. Allow the top 1–2 inches to dry slightly between waterings.
🌡️ Temperature: Warm conditions are preferred, ideally 18–29°C (65–85°F). Protect from cold drafts.
💦 Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Aim for 50–70%+ when possible.
🪴 Soil: Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix containing components such as coco coir or peat, orchid bark, perlite, and a little charcoal.
🌱 Growth: Typically forms a dense clump of foliage and can produce new leaves from the base. It generally stays more compact than many climbing aroids.
🐾 Pet friendly: Homalomena contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be considered toxic if chewed or ingested by pets or children.
✨ Tip: Avoid letting the plant completely dry out for extended periods. Consistent moisture, warmth, and good airflow will encourage larger, healthier leaves.
