🌿 Philodendron Florida Beauty
Philodendron ‘Florida Beauty’ is a stunning variegated climbing philodendron, prized for its deeply lobed leaves splashed with cream, yellow, and green variegation. It is generally associated with the Philodendron pedatum × P. squamiferum hybrid group.
☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light. Good light helps maintain strong variegation, but avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the lighter sections.
💧 Water: Water thoroughly when the top 2–5 cm of soil has dried. Don't allow the pot to sit in water.
🌱 Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing ingredients such as orchid bark, perlite/pumice, and quality potting mix.
💦 Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is appreciated, especially as the plant matures.
🌡️ Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–29°C (65–85°F), and protect from cold drafts.
🪴 Support: This is a climber. A moss pole, plank, or trellis encourages larger, more mature leaves and a stronger growth habit.
✂️ Propagation: Propagate from stem cuttings containing at least one viable node. Choose sections with visible variegation if you want to preserve the Florida Beauty pattern.
🎨 Variegation: Each leaf can have a different pattern, from light speckling to large cream/yellow sectors. Because the variegation can be unstable, predominantly green growth may indicate reversion.
⚠️ Pet safety: Like other philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children that may chew it.
